Putting down the weight of the world for a while

How would it be to put down the weight of the world for a while?
All the statistics and images telling us we’re doomed,
The weight of your projects and dreams that you long to share,
The stories you haven’t yet told,
And all the things that you wish were different.
Or part of you does – that small but powerful tyrant
Whispering into your ear, over and over,
That you and the world are not enough.

What if you saw through the tyrant’s game
Of keeping you busy,
Of keeping you small
And safe
Until you are ready to take the next step?
What if you recognised the tyrant as a testing angel
Daring you to relax instead, despite everything;
To come down from that locked room in your head
And into the wilderness of your body
Where bears are waking from hibernation,
And icicles are melting into sparkling streams.

How would it be to fully belong in the world
Instead of overly-worrying about how to save it?
What if you lived this day as though it were your last one here,
Or perhaps your first;
Soaking up every tiny detail.
Marvelling at things you hadn’t noticed before.
Offering your subtle sensing as a type of love,
A prayer,
A thank you,
The start of a remedy;
A celebration of a miracle
Reflecting back your greater nature,
Where everything,
Every not-so-single thing
Is so much more than it seems.
